The U16 Gosford girls were playing their next BIL game against Chinnor today. This was always going to be a tough match, and nothing like the teams first meeting with Chinnor this season.
Chinnor took an early lead with two very well worked tries taking the score to (10-0). All credit to Gosford, they didn't let this get them down and fought back edging ahead thanks to quick tries from Bella and Eve and a conversion by Lucie (10-12).
Eve managed to put in another two tries before half time with Chinnor scoring again leaving the score at (15-22) at the end of the half.
The second half started with neither team wanting to concede, with some great defence and phases of attack on both sides. Monica finally broke the stalemate with a fantastic run breaking past multiple Chinnor defenders to score (15-27).
With the clock ticking away on the second half, Bella managed to break through and score her second of the match with Monica taking and converting her first kick (15-34).
Chinnor came straight back never giving up to score (20-34).
In the final seconds Chinnor had a lucky break running 3/4 of the pitch and would have scored if it wasn't for a fantastic tackle by Monica. The Gosford team got back to support and won the penalty. Bella kicking the ball out ended the game.
A fantastic result for Gosford and a very tough match which was well fought by Chinnor. The final score was (20-34)
