Match Report: Gosford vs. South Bucks – Bucks Invitational League
The Gosford U16 Girls won their latest Bucks Invitational League match against a strong High Wycombe side.
First Half
Gosford set the tone early with an aggressive attack, allowing Eve to sprint down the wing to score a quick opening try (5-0). High Wycombe responded with a period of sustained pressure, winning penalties and really pushing the Gosford's defence. Their persistence was rewarded when they crossed the line for their first try levelling the score at (5-5).
The restart went deep into the Gosford half, well taken by Izzy , maintaining possession the team continued to attack, and shortly after, a well-worked move through the backs allowed Eve to break the line again for for another try, with Immy making the conversion (12-5)
After the restart Gosford regained control, through Izzy, linking up with Bella, Lola, and Eve for another attack. A penalty for offside gave Gosford a lineout, but an error allowed High Wycombe to regain possession. Monica capitalized on a turnover, to score, with Immy kicking a great conversion to make it (19-5).
High Wycombe fought back hard, using their powerful forwards to make ground, and despite strong defence from Gosford they eventually broke through for another try (19-10). Their conversion attempt went wide, keeping the gap at 9 points.
A strong break from Sophie put Gosford in a strong position, ending with her crossing the line for a great try with Immy again making the conversion (26-10).
Both teams were tied with the first half coming to a close. The ball changed hands multiple times with both teams strong in defence. Finally a fantastic set of offloads between Taia and Lily both breaking tackles sett up Taia to score with Immy again making the conversion.

Second Half
The second half saw High Wycombe come out with renewed energy, immediately putting Gosford under pressure. A series of penalties and a well-executed scrum gave them a well deserved try and conversation closing the gap to (33-17).
The back-and-forth action continued as Gosford, through Bella were finally able to spot a gap and shaking off defenders managed score which was converted by Immy, extending the lead to (40-17).
High Wycombe answered again with a well structured attack, breaking through for another try and conversion to make it (40-24).
Neither side wanted to give ground and were determined to play until the end. However, Gosford continued to apply pressure, creating space for Bella to score her second of the match, again Immy make the conversion (47-24).
High Wycombe were undeterred and kept fighting to close the gap managing two quick tries before the final whistle, bringing the score to (47-31).

Summary
This was a tough match, both sides fought until the end, but the Gosford team managed to retain their lead for the duration of the match.
High Wycombe played with determination, and put in a great performance with a strong game from their forwards and the 10. A fantastic effort from both teams.
Gosford have now played 4, won 4 in the Bucks Invitational moving to second in the table and are looking forward to the next game.
