Gosford U7's were admirably hosted by Quins today. Quins large twenty man squad meant the Gosford players were in action all morning.
The pre match training routines were halted when Max Rushby realised his tooth was loose, out it came along with considerable amounts of blood.Determined to carry on in true Gosford style Max took his place in the line up along with brand new player Thomas? henceforth known as Tom 2 in order to avoid confusion with Thomas Sherwood.
Gosford's first game against Quins followed a similar pattern to our confrontation against Faringdon. Whilst its true every Gosford player is capable of performing some great solo try scoring runs and pulling off fine tackles we still aren't acting as a unit or team and more experienced and capable sides are very quick at exploiting these weaknesses. Gosford were often their own worst enemies by continually running into touch, heartbreaking stuff indeed for their large travelling support. Consequently we ended up on the wrong side of a 9-1 drubbing.

Game number two was a more even affair.Gosford certainly put more effort in, supported better and improved their allignment. In fact I was almost sure that this game was in the bag but reckoned without Gosfords fatal obsession with the sideline. Despite some good tries Gosford failed to make the most of their attacking opportunities by taking the ball into touch again and again. Still thats the heartbreak that goes with the highs that makes U7 tag rugby the greatest spectator sport known to man.
On the bright side Gosford saw the need to improve their tagging and these two games were certainly a step in the right direction, everybody without exception picked up their tag rate. Winner of the Gosford tag competition though was young Tiggy becoming in the process Woman of the Match. Well done Tiggy! Well done also Thomas Sherwood and Freddy Cooke who both carried on playing despite both picking up a couple of nasty knocks.
